Naturepedic Organic Cotton Portacrib Mattress
Review by Bela : Perfect Fit!
This mattress (along with the ABC organic waterproof cover and Koala baby fitted sheet) fits perfectly in my son's mini crib (DaVinci Baby Mod Mini Roxanne). His little bed is firm and very comfortable, and I am very happy with it. I would highly recommended it.

Review by rockinhippie : Great Product....must have for baby!!!
This is a wonderful mattress for your baby. Most commercial baby mattresses have so many harmful chemical processes and those chemicals continue to "fume" off the mattress while your baby is sleeping on it. This mattress does not have those and is safe for your baby.
Regarding the reviews that complained about the thickness: This is an infant mattress, not an adult mattress. A big, fluffy mattress is not safe for a baby to sleep on. This is about 2 inches thick and plenty firm and soft at the same time. It is actually thicker than the flimsy one that came with the crib. My son loves it.
Definitely recommend this mattress, especially if you care about keeping toxins away from your baby!

Review by K. Nam "Alex" : Nice product
I bought this for a portable crib I purchased for my son. We temporarily relocated to another city and I didn't want to drag my full size crib with us. So I needed a decent temporary crib. The mattress that the crib came with was unusable, so thin and flimsy. I got this and it's very nice thickness and perfect firmness for my son. I think it is bit overpriced but I guess you have to pay premium for the organic stuff. My full size crib mattress costed about the same as this but that was not organic. All in all, I like it and I would purchase it again.

Review by scientific illustrator : great, firm mattress
I'm surprised to see that so many people had trouble with the firmness of this mattress. We bought two - one for the pack n' play at daycare and one for home. We have used ours for a year and our now-25lb-child has not produced a dent yet. Perhaps it has something to do with the support system you use under it? At home ours is in a DaVinci Mini Crib - it has a flat board that forms the bottom of the crib so it's well supported. The mini mattress fits perfectly and has not sagged or dented at all. We are very pleased and will be upgrading to the Naturepedic regular-sized crib mattress for the next stage.

Review by Mommy A : Definitely firm enough for a newborn - A+!
This is a great portacrib mattress. I bought it because there have been some studies which suggest that SIDS deaths may be related to fire retardant chemicals in infant bedding and the lack of some newborns to process it well. This pad is firesafe through the use of a different, not so chemically laden process. In terms of what buyers said about the pad's thinness, newborns do not need the kind of thick mattresses that adults think of as more comfortable. (In fact, I once heard it put very well: In terms of SIDS safety, "If the mattress looks like it would be comfortable for you, no newborn should be going anywhere near it!") The comfort comes in whatever soft, lovely, tight-fitting material you lay over it. I used the chenille sheets by American Baby Company - although for said reasons, I wished I could find something truly organic (not just an organic surface as I saw with some products).Chuaigh mé leis an eochaircheap - tá sé go maith agus mothaíonn a rinneadh an-, agus níl a fhios agam conas a fuair siad ar an talamh ar dromchla uile-cadás a bheith uiscedhíonach, ach mothaíonn sé go han-neamh-thréscaoilteacha gan sacrificing chompord. Is é an eochaircheap an-láidir, níos mó ná thingies go leor eile matress leanbh - ba chóir don athbhreithnitheoir eile a bhfuil rud ar bith a eagla. Is é an imní ach mo thuairimse, ba chóir do dhaoine a bheith aige leis an thickness an mattress gur gá duit a dhéanamh cinnte do bhileoga - d'fhéadfadh a bheith deartha le thicker tocht i gcuimhne - ní gá bunch suas agus a bheith ina dromchla crumply bhféadfadh an leanbh sleamhnán ar fud i bhfad an iomarca. Má tá tú i rith fhadhb den sórt sin, bioráin sábháilteacht an choirnéal an bhileog ar íochtair le chéile chun a dhéanamh níos déine sé ar bharr ........

Review by S. Curtin : This is a PAD, not a mattress
This arrived so quickly! I love that it's organic, and it seems like it's great quality, but I'm a little annoyed that it's advertised as a mattress when it's clearly not a mattress. It even says on its label that it's a pad. It's super thin, and I'm worried about whether or not it's going to be firm enough for a newborn. I know of no other options for mini crib mattresses that are organic (affordable or otherwise), so I might be stuck with this one. The fact that it's organic and free of dangerous chemicals is the reason I purchased it. I'm a nervous first-time mom, and I'm just not sure how I feel about this springless mattress pad as the primary surface for my baby to sleep on.

Review by yummymummytobe : very satisfied
I really love that this product is organic. It seems to be very comfortable as well. However, I really wish that the portacrib mattress was really a mattress, and not just a pad. My only worry is that it won't last through the 11 months I plan on using the portacrib. Overall, I'm pleased with this product. I also really like the mattress pad by Naturepedic too. I did a lot of research on portacrib mattresses and I feel this is by far the best option! I think that you'll like it if you know that it's just a 2" pad (but a very sturdy and good quality one!).
